Feminist academics international
Welcome to the first webpage of 'Feminist academics international'. This is an ongoing project inspired by 'Celebrating the Feminist Within' held at the University of East Anglia (UK) and a recent seminar at Equality, Diversity and Inclusion 2011 (AUT, New Zealand). Our aim is to foster an inclusive community of feminist academics from any discipline around the world who identify as feminist. The development of this website is participatory - your feedback is not only welcomed, but desired. However, we anticipate, in time, that this website will include suggested key feminist reading, forums to share ideas, calls for papers, research ideas and funding news. We also hope to develop an area of the site where informal peer to peer mentoring can be mediated. Above all, it is our hope that this site can help to overcome some of the isolation that feminist academics report.
We recognise that some visitors to the site may be more comfortable using terms such as 'womanist or womanyst' rather than feminist. We welcome those people too. We have no set definition of feminism as our intention is to be as inclusive as possible.
